System Administrators

Summary:
The systems administrator works with a team to monitor stability and performance of existing systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with developers, analysts and other system administrators to install new software, upgrade existing software and configure new and existing systems.
  • Applies patches and performs system maintenance.
  • Proactively monitors system integrity to discover, diagnose, troubleshoot and facilitate.
  • Works collectively with the entire operations team to monitor stability and performance to ensure 24×7 availability of critical services.
  • Participates in on call rotation

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Extensive understanding and experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well with internal and external customers with varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Self, motivated, independent learner who can work well within a team.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience related to Linux systems administration.

Preffered Skills And/Or Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with SQL databases, especially MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
  • Proficient in hardware installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Nagios monitoring system.
  • Knowledge of networking infrastructure, including switches, wireless networking, and routing.
  • Experience in multiple environments, including Linux, Windows 2000/XP, and Mac OS X.
